This Season

Cold, early winter snows started a new season for us afresh with many new projects in the works. We're beginning work with our forest stewardship plans and will be working through the winter both on an important fuel load reduction / fire break project as well as some site preparation for the the Tierra Village building scheduled to break ground this spring. Our forest stewardship work is largely motivated by two factors: to increase long term forest health and to prepare against large scale, stand replacement type wildfires here in SunitschCanyon. We're also going to try to handle most of the debris here on site, attempting to turn forest debris into a forest resource. There is a vision of culling overgrowth from the forest stands and returning it to the soil in the valley bottom in the form of bio-char. Follow this link to see who we've been consulting with on this front - http://www.biochar-international.org/Newenglandbiochar - stay tuned!
