Family Run, Hands On Farming

Tierra Garden Organic Produce is the labor of love of Eron Drew and Willy Stockman. We are a leased, certified organic family run farm. Currently, we are farming approximately 4 acres of mixed veggies and fruit and 15 acres of grains. Over the last 5 years we have dedicated ourselves to improving the soil and biological processes, increasing our knowledge of organic-based farming and providing the best possible produce to our surrounding community. We have also seen the birth of our two children, Leif Haakon and Ingrid Lily.

Our business is based on the idea that farming, in its ideal state, is a full circle endeavor. Soil, water, plants and animals are all intertwined in a complex web of life that, when nurtured, helps all parts to thrive. This is an intense method of farming that requires observation, experimentation and a lack of fear of making mistakes while learning through them!

A majority of the work that is done on the farm is specialized hand labor. We do use a small tiller and riding mower and occasionally a tractor or combine but mainly we rely on specially fabricated hand tools and manual labor for a majority of the planting, weeding and harvesting. We incorporate row covers, hoop houses and passive solar greenhouses into our system to extend our seasons. We currently harvest 11 months out of the year.

In 2005, we began offering CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) shares and still hold many of our original members, along with new families and individuals who are interested in supporting local agriculture and receiving the freshest possible produce (other than growing it themselves!).  We can also be found at the local farmers markets and supply to several local restaurants.
