Building Homes and Co-Creating Community With People of All Abilities
Mission, Vision and Values
Our mission is to provide homes and services for people with developmental disabilities in a collaborative, integrated and diverse community located in a beautiful natural setting.
Our vision is of a society in which people of all abilities live as equal citizens with full respect for their human rights, freedom and dignity. Everyone has the same choices and opportunities to live a purposeful and valued community life with the needed supports to do so.
Our values include self-determination, meaningful work opportunities, a celebration of diversity, the experience of lifelong learning and compassionate service.
A Supportive Community
At the core of the Tierra Village vision is the belief that creative engagement, community involvement. healthy whole foods, and active stewardship are essential to positive growth. By placing housing options for adults with, and without, disabilities in the larger surroundings of the Tierra Learning Center community, residents join a supportive network of individuals and businesses working to:
Foster feelings of worth,
Let people be different,
Enhance the stewardship of, and quality of life in, Sunitsch Canyon as the whole.
Inspiration
Tierra Village, a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization, is inspired by life-sharing and land based communities that exemplify a sane and enriching lifestyle where community members live and work along side each other. Naturally, every resident is expected to be a contributing member of the community exploring the ways individual contributions can manifest and evolve. Village residents will have beautiful and functional homes, an incredibly tranquil but lively community, opportunities to exercise strengths in a supportive environment, and the choice to participate in both shared and private space.
