What’s Behind This Working Model of Inclusion?

The Tierra Village project emerged from Gracie Close’s vision of extending the Tierra Learning Center’s amazing energy and resources to foster a community that would include adults with developmental disabilities in a real and meaningful way. Shanda and Andrew Holm were asked to research and design an inclusive community that embodied the ideals of Rudolf Steiner’s Camphill Villages while remaining non-denominational, land based, and financially viable. With the help of Tierra Learning Center community members, advocates with disabilities and without, service providers, life sharing community members, care providers, parents and people like you and me we’ve developed a progressive life sharing model that situates community supported apartments and homes within an inclusive and connected network of families, businesses and individuals.
