Camp Themes

Week 1: Garden Table Living (June 19, 20, 21.) (Hands in the Dirt)
This week, you will get your hands in the dirt.  You will learn how to grow a garden, when to tend it, and how to produce tasty, healthy foods from your labors.  The children will be creating a recipe book they can take to help them introduce new healthy foods into their lives and share with their families.

Week 2:  An Active Life! A Healthy Heart! (June 26, 27, 28).
Let’s get moving!  This week will take a look at how to live healthy and be active using all the things around you.  The focus will be on how to maintain a healthy heart!  This week will feature a guest who will teach the children fun and interactive ways to be healthy.

Week 3: A Sense of Nature (July 10, 11, 12).
This week, we will be quieting our bodies and minds as we explore nature; discovering nature as we quiet our minds and body thru sight, sound, smell, taste and touch.  Explore the woods and the pond, hike the hills, lie in a field, listen to the wind, watch the clouds float by and smell the lavender.

Week 4: Geology Rocks!! (July 17, 18, 19)
Rocks, mud, minerals, and volcanos are a recipe for FUN!!  This week the explorer will experience their environment through science and experimentations.  So come put on your geology hat and dig a little.

Week 5: Landscapes, water color and journaling (July 24, 25, 26)
Build an individual appreciation for what it around us by surveying our world.  This week you will learn how to capture what you see through the creation of a project that incorporates water color, landscapes, and journaling about your experience using fun and descriptive words.

Week 6: IMAGEine That! (July 31-Aug 2)
Can we create art through a photograph?   If you want to learn how to do this come hang out with us and learn to capture something that is real, learn to adjust to your atmosphere and object.  The children will have the opportunity to hang with a professional photographer who will help take their photos to create a work of art and a gift of a memory.

Week 7: Everybody Art! (Aug 7, 8, 9)
What is Art?  Come and expand your limitations while investigating your world through different art forms.  Look at art in a non-traditional way, while getting in touch with your own inner creativity through different art mediums; learning that art has a place in everyone’s lives!

Week 8: One Earth, One Love! (Aug 14, 15, 16)
Culture is the fabric of every community.  This week will you will discover different cultures.  This exploration will take you on a journey of discovery through food, dress, dance and music.  This week of discovery will take you to Greece, France, Mexico and Germany.

Week 9: Survivor Boot camp (Aug 21, 22, 23)
Where am I?  This week learn how to get oriented to your surroundings, learn how to tell direction by learning to use a compass. Become in touch with self-confidence and independence by learning to use what is around us to survive the great outdoors!
